What daily chores, routines, or responsibilities seem ceaseless in your life? Ask God to help you remember that every little thing you do is noticed by Him.
Used to be dishes (boys do those), trash (same), and laundry (boys do some of those).
Now I would still say laundry, making the bed (which I do much less often these days), and I would have thought driving, but I like that a lot more than I expected.
I should be thinking about cooking, but I have totally given that up.
In what area of your life are you currently experiencing the most pressure? How have you responded to it so far?
I hate to admit that I am often not good with pressure. My family is who suffers the most from that. God, please help me with that. Now, however, the most “pressure” there is in my life is lots of teaching and grading papers and I am doing okay with that. I don’t love it and I am not as quick as I am with only two classes, but I am doing well.
How is God using it?
I think he is telling me that I wouldn’t love teaching five classes a semester all the time, unless my other duties are lighter. I think that either I would need to be a lot closer or I would need to have different classes. Maybe not all composition courses. Hmmm. Maybe I shouldn’t have applied for that anticipated post. It isn’t near here and a lot of it would be composition.
1-5 convictions that you hold.
1. We believe in one God,
the Father, the Almighty,
maker of heaven and earth,
of all that is, seen and unseen.
We believe in one Lord, Jesus Christ,
the only Son of God,
eternally begotten of the Father,
God from God, light from light,
true God from true God,
begotten, not made,
of one Being with the Father;
through him all things were made.
For us and for our salvation
he came down from heaven,
was incarnate of the Holy Spirit and the Virgin Mary
and became truly human.
For our sake he was crucified under Pontius Pilate;
he suffered death and was buried.
On the third day he rose again
in accordance with the Scriptures;
he ascended into heaven
and is seated at the right hand of the Father.
He will come again in glory to judge the living and the dead,
and his kingdom will have no end.
We believe in the Holy Spirit, the Lord, the giver of life,
who proceeds from the Father [and the Son],
who with the Father and the Son is worshiped and glorified,
who has spoken through the prophets.
We believe in one holy catholic and apostolic Church.
We acknowledge one baptism for the forgiveness of sins.
We look for the resurrection of the dead,
and the life of the world to come. Amen.
Okay, it is the Nicene creed, but I believe that.
2. God loves us.
3. God wants us to love him.
4. Love is a decision and an action.
5. Beauty is a gift from God.
1-5 character traits you would like to be remembered for after you die.
1. Loving: loving God, loving family, loving friends
How have you seen God cultivate these in your life?
Well, generosity. I have more money and more people seem to need it.
Encouraging: I am seeing how supportive and helpful my friends have been over the years.
1-5 people who share your convictions– Not family or coworkers.
That’s easy. (Coworkers would have been hard.)
Sherry, Darla, Nancy, Debbie…
Eileen, Rachel, Shannon, Sharon
How often do you see them?
Not very much. The first five don’t live near here.
The last four go to my old church.
I don’t know who I could do the One Month to Live group with, except my family who are doing it with me now.
